Planet Earth is an incredible large place where all of the 7.4 billion people live. Over the course of human history, the land has been divided up and ruled by many different governments. Today there are about 195 ruling bodies of government. The graph above shows the land size for a selection of these countries.

The range of land sizes for each country is incredible large. The country with the most amount of land is Russia. Russia has over 6 million square miles of land within their boarders. The country second to Russia in land size is China. China has 3.6 million square miles, which is significantly smaller than Russia.

On the other end of the spectrum is Singapore. Singapore lands at the bottom of this list, and only has 270 square miles of land. Other small land nations are the Netherlands (13,000), Croatia (21,000), and Lithuanian (24,000). (Note: These are not the smallest land sized national in the world. These are just he smallest from the list above. Vatican City is the smallest land size nation, with only being 0.19 square miles.)

The USA places at the top end of this list. About 3.5 million square miles are covered from sea to shinning sea.
