There are about 7.6 billion people on Earth. Half of those people are male. How different are all those males from each other? One thing to look at is their height. The above graph shows the average male height from a variety of different countries.

The range in average heights is that that large from a numeric sense. The tallest countries have a average hight of just below 6 ft. The shortest countries have an overage hight just above 5ft. But practically that is a pretty big difference.

Serbia, Sweden, Lithuanian and Iceland are among the countries with the tallest males. The Philippines, Nepal, Vietnam, and Indonesia have on average the shortest males. It is important to note that these numbers of averages. It’s basically saying that if you travel do Sweden, and walk down a random street, most guys are going to be around 6 ft. Some will be taller and some will be shorter. But that countries average Joe is going to be 6ft tall.

The United States falls in the middle of these countries. The US male has an average hight of 5′ 9”.

The x-axis (horizontal part of the graph) shows the name of the country. The y-axis (vertical part of the graph) shows the height in feet. Each bar represents the average height in feet for males in that country. The spreed of average heights is a little less than a foot. Average: a number that is calculated by adding quantities together and then dividing the total by the number of quantities.
