Females make up half of the 7.6 billion people on Earth living in about 195 different countries. That’s a lot of people, living in a lot of different places. How different are these females from each other? One characteristic to look at is their height. The above graph shows the average female height from a variety of different countries.

The tallest females live in Iceland, Netherlands, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Norway. The shortest females live in Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Vietnam, and Cambodia.

The average heights from all the countries range from 5’6” – 4’10”. That is about a 8 inches spread. It is important to remember that these are the averages heights. There are still people much shorter and taller than these numbers living in all the countries.

The United States is the middle of the pack here. The average height for females in the USA is 5’3”.

Each bar represents the average height in feet for females that live in that country. The graph is generated using 2021 data. The spread of average heights is about 8 inches. Average: a number that is calculated by adding quantities together and then dividing the total by the number of quantities
