The 5 Great Lakes located in North America are all different sizes. One way to compare the sizes of the lakes is by looking at their surface areas. The graph above shows each of the Great Lakes surface area.
The graph above shows that Lake Superior is indeed superior in regards to size. It has a surface area of 31700 square miles.
Lake Huron and Lake Michigan are very similar in size. Huron has a surface area of 23000 square miles and Michigan has a surface area of 22300 square miles.
Lake Erie’s surface area is 9910 square miles. Lake Ontario is the smallest with an area of 7340 square miles. All this data can be seen in the graph above.
