Taylor Swift has embarked on the process of re-releasing her first six albums. The primary reasons for Taylor Swift’s decision to re-record her albums was to regain control over her master recordings. Master recordings are the original recordings of songs, and owning these masters provides significant control over how the music is used, licensed, and monetized. Swift’s original masters were sold without her consent, leading her to take action to regain control. She began re-recording and releasing her catalog of music, starting with “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” in April 2021. All of Swifts re recorded albums, and the number of songs on each, can be seen in the graph above.
Re-recording her albums allowed Taylor Swift to revisit her earlier work, giving her the opportunity to make creative changes and alterations as she saw fit. Most excitingly, she has added extra songs to the re records. Making these albums longer than the original releases. Sadly 1989 ~ TV is set to have the least amount of songs, out of all the re recordings.
Number of Songs On Taylor’s Version
Fearless (Taylor’s Version) – 26 songs
Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) – 22 songs
Red (Taylor’s Version) – 30 songs
1989 (Taylor’s Version) – 21 songs
