The 2020 summer Olympics are being played in summer 2021. Athletes from 206 countries have traveled to Tokyo to compete in 339 events. At each of these events a gold, silver, and bronze medal will be awarded to the top competitors. Each of these winners also win a cash prize. That prize is awarded to the athlete from their home country, with each country has a different cash amount. The highest paying country is Singapore with a $737,000 cash prize for gold. That is without a doubt much more than most counties pay their athletes.
