Golf is one of the few sports that age is not an overwhelming factor in the talent of the player. Because of this, golfers in their 40s can still be very competitive players. One way to analyze this fact is by looking at the ages of players who have won tournaments in the past. Specifically this post will look at the oldest players, and their ages, who were winners at the Masters golf tournaments.
The graph above lists the oldest players who have ever won the Masters. At the top of this list is golf legend Jack Nicklaus. He is currently the oldest golfer to win the Masters at age 46 at the 1986 tournament. The closest anyone has come to beating that was Tigger Woods when he won in 2019 at age 43. Tiger is also the only golfer to make this list in the last 30 years. Woods is probably the only golfer who has a chance at beating this record, but that is probably a very unlikely thing to happen. Nicklaus hold on this record is very secure. The top five oldest Masters winners can be seen in the graph above.

The x-axis (horizontal part of the graph) shows the age of the golfer. The y-axis (vertical part of the graph) shows the player name and the year they won. Every bar represents the age of the golfer for that year they won. There has not been a lot of additions to this graph in the last 30 years. Masters Tournament: One of the four major championships in professional golf. Usually takes place in the first full week of April. The Masters is the first major of the year, and is always held at the same location, Augusta National Golf Club, a private course in Augusta, Georgia.
