Harry Potter ~ Deaths

Books Harry Potter Pop Culture

The first Harry Potter novel was published in the UK in 1997. Six more books soon followed. Originally the books were written for middle schoolers. But before the entire series was complete, the story became hugely popular among adults as well. The graph above shows how many charters were killed off throughout the series. There ended up being a lot deaths in the Harry Potter series.

The first three books only has one death of a wizard. Only one! In three books! In the last book, 30 die! 30! Adding insult to injury, a lot of the main characters were killed off. Including beloved characters. This book series cat-fished everyone. Most of the deaths came in the last two books. What started as a story for middle schoolers, definitely changed course when people older than 12 starting reading the books. It makes you wonder if the novels would have had a happier and less bloody ending if there never was an adult audience to entertain.
