The Masters is a highly completive golf tournament that takes place every year in Augusta Georgia. Winning the Masters is one of the greatest accomplishments for a professional golfer. Even qualifying is incredible hard to do. But if you are one of the top golfers in the tournament, anything short of first must feel like a disappointment. The above graph shows the most second place finished by golfers at the Masters. They came so close, so many times.
Tom Weiskopf, Jack Nicklaus, and Ben Hogan have are all tied with the most second place finishes with 4. Out o the three Tom Weiskopf is the only golfer who has never placed first in the tournament. That sucks for him.
Tom Watson, Tom Kite, Raymond Floyd, Johnny Miller, and Greg Norman have all placed second in the tournament 3 times. Out of all these guys, Tom Kite, Johnny Miller, and Greg Norman have never placed first in the tournament.
All these guys are amazing golfers, but coming so close to winning and coming up short is not always fun. At least for many of these guys, they had at least one Masters win.
